Are there devices between Pocket PC and Laptop in terms of functionality?

I am interested in purchasing a Pocket PC or something similar but I have noticed that Windows Mobile and comparable operating systems seem to be quite limited. While I don’t expect incredible performance, is there a device capable of running Win95 applications perhaps or other such functionality?

    To do that you would have to go to a umpc
    Something like the htc shift
    It is smaller than a laptop
    And uses Windows Vista and has a 30 gb hard drive

    It is 3g and wifi capable so you can still access the internet as a pocket pc would
